History

Voice Of The Innocent Children (VOIC) started as a Community Based Organization in Tumu in the upper west region under the instruction of PLAN GHANA, another Non Governmental Organization to mobilize and support the children in the community and it’s environs. VOIC clubs were established in communities like Tumu, Pulima, Sorbelle, Kowie, Gwollu to mention a few to organize extra curricular activities for the children.

VOIC was formally registered as an NGO in October 2010 by Kwesi Ansah and Adams Mohammed as a result of their desire to render humanitarian services to the poor and needy children who otherwise will not be able to make it in life due to their poor state of health or their inability to get a good education. One of the early beneficiaries was a child in Tumu who was found to have a congenital skin disorder which had made her withdraw from her peers. We took the responsibility to seek medical help for this poor child and after several discussions with her family, we brought this child to Accra, sought funding for her medical bills and care, and she successfully underwent a series of surgeries at the reconstructive plastic and burns centre at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. After her discharge from the hospital we decided to continue helping children who have serious medical issues whose parents cannot afford the medical bills. We have since helped and continue to help a lot of children in the deprived and remote communities get lasting solutions to their medical problems.

It is our commitment to help build healthier, stronger and educated communities for our children in areas where they lack or have very little resources, and to help improve the quality of their lives. We wish to empower our children to contribute positively to their communities and to Ghana as a nation in the long term.
